Beautiful Creatures
This book was written by
Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl
Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy, Romance
Published: December 1, 2009 Setting: Gatlin, North Carolina
This is one of my personal favorites. I read this in 2010, shortly after it came out, and fell in love with the characters. It's a very emotional story, taking you on an adventure while entrancing you with young love.
The main characters of this book are Ethan Wate, Lena Duchannes, Macon Ravenwood, Wesley Jefferson Lincoln, and Amma Treadeau. Plagued with dreams of a beautiful girl he's never met, Ethan is desperate to meet the girl he's fallen in love with. One day at school she's suddenly there and they end up having a more powerful bond that anyone would have guessed. Before they can even begin a relationship, Lena has to reveal her deepest darkest secret; She is a Caster. Casters are really just witches with one difference; on their sixteenth birthday, they either become a light or a dark Caster. When Ethan and Lena discover that her sixteenth birthday will be different than the rest of her family's, they must search for a way to break an ancient curse on the ancestors of the Wate and Duchannes families.
I like how intricately this story is woven. The words and detail and background that Garcia and Stohl put into every chapter really lets you know what is happening. I recommend this book to people who love to curl up and read a tragic romance that was never supposed to be but in the end, saves them both.
