Don't Die My Love
This book is written by Lurlene McDaniel
Genre: Romance, Young Adult
Published: January 1995
Setting: Waterton, Indiana
This book was not like any other I've read. It was fast paced but agonizingly slow, or maybe that was just me, unable to stop my eyes from devouring the next words yet fearing what they would mean.
The main characters of this book are Julie and Luke. Absolutely in love with each other, this couple is practically inseparable. Every chance they get, when Luke is not busy practicing on the football field with Julie's father, they are hanging out together. One day, however, things take a turn for the worst. Diagnosed with a rare cancer, Luke is in the hospital for months. Throughout his treatments, Julie never leaves his side, despite her disapproving mother's attempts to keep her home. Julie and Luke must stay together, fighting this sickness, and prove once and for all that true love is worth fighting for.
This roller-coaster ride of a book kept me turning page after page just to see what Luke and Julie did next. I loved the way it was told and the emotions it made me feel. Lurlene McDaniel takes you on a journey of true love and heartbreak, blending every element in perfectly with the next. I recommend this hauntingly beautiful love story to anyone that wants to read about the strength that true love has through everything life throws in your way.
