Inkheart
This book was written by Cornelia Funke.
Genre: Fantasy Literature
Published: September 2003
Setting: Continental Europe
I'm not going to lie, this isn't the first time I've read this book. This was it; the beginning of my book obsession. I thought it only fitting that it be the beginning of my blog as well.
The main characters are Meggie and her father, Mortimer, or Mo as she calls him, and an unusual man named Dustfinger. Mortimer is a book binder by trade but has a unique ability that very few people in the world have. He is called a "Silvertongue." When reading a book aloud, Mortimer's voice makes the characters become physically real, and they exist in our world. But there's a catch; a very dangerous catch. When something comes out of the book, something must go in. Mortimer nor any of the other Silvertongues in the world have control of who goes in or comes out.
I absolutely adore this book. It keeps you on the edge of your seat and constantly questioning "What will happen next?" Cornelia Funke is a master of words and making her stories come to life. With so many adventures around every bend, you can't put this book down! I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for something out of the ordinary and completely different from anything they've ever read before.
Five Stars!!
